Who is this course for?

This course is ideally suited to those that have some climbing experience. Possibly gained from a climbing wall. Although no outdoor experience is required, some basic understanding is needed. For example: how to put on a harness. And how to tie in to the end of a rope using a belay. As part of this course, it is essential that you want to tackle some climbing on real rock. As well as a desire to have fun!

What will I be doing as part of this course?

We understand that everyone works at different paces. Which is why our instructors only choose routes that are ideally suited to each participant. And this can be achieved by our high staff to student ratio.

We are proud of our flexible approach. Nevertheless, on both days we will visit single pitch crags (less than one rope length high) Each morning, our staff will determine which venue to attend. Based on the current weather conditions. And the overall ability of the group.

Over the two days, expect to learn about the following:

  • Lots of climbing
  • Placing ‘bomber’ gear for anchors and runners
  • Rigging a bottom rope on a single pitch crag
  • Tying into anchors at the top of the crag
  • Good belaying skills
  • Principles of leading and a leader’s rack
  • Setting up and managing an abseil
  • The BMC – services and clubs
  • Where do I go from here? – after the course

Price: £200 per person
