Get Started Rock Climbing

Introduction
Are you interested in becoming a rock climber?

This is an introductory course which equips you with foundation level skills, allowing you to become a safe rock climber. Throughout the weekend, lots of outdoor climbing will be completed. Along with essential climbing techniques. You will also learn about equipment, ropework and safety skills.

If you want to learn about what rock climbing is all about, this could be the ideal course for you. Our team of trained instructors will use local cliffs to help you get the best start into climbing. As well as introduce you to essential equipment, putting you on your route to becoming a rock climber.

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for a beginner that has no previous experience in rock climbing. All that is needed is the will to have fun. And desire to do some climbing. Ultimately, this course will equip you with the essential skills required to get started in rock climbing.

What will I be doing as part of this course?

We understand that everyone is different. Which is why we tailor the course to individual abilities. We can provide full flexibility. Allowing participants to complete the course in one weekend. Every morning, the course staff will decide a location best suited to the overall group. In addition to current weather conditions. During the weekend, we will look at the following areas:

  • Bouldering (short climbs on boulders used to develop technique)
  • Introduction to simple ropework
  • Belaying (controlling the rope for the climber)
  • Single pitch climbs
  • Abseiling
  • Use of technical equipment
  • Safe descents
  • Joining the BMC
  • Where do I go from here? – after the course
