Bushcraft describes a way of living in the natural environment using outdoor survival skills. Specifically by working with the natural environment rather than exploiting it. In the UK, the term has become particularly popular thanks to Ray Mears. A TV presenter, instructor and author.
Firstly, we fully explain survival training concepts to all of our students. We then provide a practical explanation of various survival training techniques to put this theory into practice. Which then allows students to practice the skill themselves. And students have the opportunity to refine this until they reach a level they feel fully competent at. We appreciate that every individual learns in different ways. Which is why we suit the course to individual requirements.
North East OA have been teaching Bushcraft for a number of years and have a team experienced in Bushcraft who have continued exposure to the skills required. Our courses are delivered in a friendly way and are suited to a wide range of abilities.
We are joining up with ‘Taught In The Wood’, a Bushcraft company based in Low Friarside Woods, Gateshead, NE16 6AL. They teach a range of Bushcraft and survival skills activities and we will have the opportunity to use these facilities for our own Bushcraft courses.
